Warm and cool destinations away from ‘spring breakers’

We’re going on grownup spring break this year!” Whether seeking a cooler adventures to indulge in the fun of the last bits of winter/early spring fun, or to rock sandals and sunscreen as you immerse in the heat of the south, epic spring break locations for grownups are out there and calling you for adventure and some R & R.

Denver, Colorado’s gourmet markets and snowy slopes
In the last five years, Denver has welcomed six new market halls, all with something special to offer. The Source Hotel & Market Hall, located in the trendy River North Art District has a culinary complex greater than 45,000 square feet with dozens of artisans including a wood-fired restaurant, art gallery, florist, bakery, taqueria, kitchen and apparel shops and so much more. The connecting patios to the small batch brewery New Belgium Brewing Company complete with rooftop seating create the perfect location to quaff beers.
Explore the rich history of Denver and step into the former Stanley Aviation headquarters set alongside the main runway of the city’s original airport. The building has been thoughtfully transformed into Stanley Marketplace, a community hub of over 50 locally owned bars, restaurants, and shops, along with a beer hall, events venue, sustainable greenhouse, and park.
Take to the mountains for downhill skiing and snowboarding at its best with shorter lift lines, peak season snowfall, and numerous events slope-side. Arapahoe Basin Ski Area has some of the highest terrain in North America and the longest ski season in Colorado, often lasting into June. Known for their award-winning homemade food and drinks, this ski area has numerous dining options, like the highest restaurant in the US at 12,500 ft, as well as food trucks, a bar and grill, café, and to-go options.
St. Louis, Missouri’s wolves and unexpected art
The travel guide website Conde Nast Traveler chose St. Louis as one of “11 Spring Break Destinations For Grown-Ups" this year, and it is easy to see why. Enjoy mild weather, smaller crowds, and a growing eclectic culinary scene in addition to the well-known barbeque favorites the city is famous for.

Maine’s Sunday River Resort ski and après
Sunday River Resort in Bethel, Maine offers the full package for spring break adult fun. Bike the paths of Coligny Beach Park for a picnic on the beach. Head out on the water and rent a wave runner, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard, try out water skiing, tubing, or parasailing for an adventurous break.
